Transport Manager at Richemont in Tokyo | Lead luxury logistics operations, manage carriers and 3PL providers, drive continuous improvement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor transport partners (carriers and 3PL providers), including performance management, contract compliance, and regular carrier assessments
  • Define, monitor, and manage transportation KPIs (on-time delivery, lead time, transport cost, damage rate) through weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis on performance issues and develop improvement initiatives based on data insights
  • Drive continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects in collaboration with transport partners
  • Plan and execute regular tenders (RFP/RFQ) for transport partners, evaluating proposals based on cost, service quality, capacity, and risk
  • Support vendor selection and contract renewal processes
  • Deploy and enforce Richemont transport policies and guidelines across all Maisons
  • Provide training and communication to ensure compliance with transport standards
  • Report transport-related incidents and support internal and external audit processes
  • Manage hand-carry operations and coordinate training programs in collaboration with the Security team
  • Oversee registration, evaluation, and management of hand carriers
  • Provide logistics support for High Jewelry events (primarily Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels), including logistics planning, site inspections, exception request management, and on-site coordination
  • Act as liaison between warehouse operations and Security teams on access control, metal detection systems, and guard management
  • Evaluate transport risks based on business continuity frameworks and secure alternative transport solutions and backup carriers
  • Lead transport operations during emergency situations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (Warehouse, Customer Service, Security, HQ, Maisons) on transport design and operational changes

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of operational experience in logistics and transportation
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English (TOEIC score 800 or above recommended)
  • Proven experience managing transport partners and/or 3PL providers
  • Strong KPI management and data analysis skills (Excel and BI tools)
  • Experience in vendor evaluation and tender processes
  • Solid understanding of compliance and security requirements in logistics operations
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • People management experience
