Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial at Richemont in New York City—lead Americas transactional legal work for luxury jewelry and watches conglomerate.
Role & Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and vendor agreements across all business functions, including marketing, advertising, events, software, technology, digital, facilities, logistics, security, sustainability, ESG, retail, and e-commerce
- Monitor emerging legal and regulatory developments in AI, emerging technologies, ESG, and digital commerce; provide strategic contractual guidance on related risks
- Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and data privacy teams on technology contract reviews, data security assessments, and privacy impact evaluations
- Partner proactively with internal clients and cross-functional business teams to identify and mitigate complex risks with commercially focused strategic advice
- Provide strategic support on litigation and regulatory matters related to complex contract and commercial disputes
- Develop and maintain legal tools and resources including templates, playbooks, negotiation guidelines, and training materials; lead training sessions for business teams
- Champion Richemont's Group values and value-driven ways of working across the organization
- Contribute to and leverage Group Legal's knowledge management platform and legal technology solutions
- Strategically interface with and manage outside counsel relationships
Qualifications
- J.D. from a leading law school
- Active membership in at least one state bar in good standing (New York strongly preferred)
- Minimum seven years of commercial transactional experience, combining law firm and in-house roles in multi-jurisdictional environments across the Americas
- Proven expertise in drafting, negotiating, and providing strategic counsel on complex commercial contracts across diverse business functions
- Experience in retail or consumer products industries preferred
- Experience with e-commerce, digital platforms, data privacy, and/or technology transactions preferred
- Strategic mindset with the ability to integrate legal and business solutions and partner effectively with senior business leaders
- Exceptional emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to build trust and navigate complex stakeholder relationships
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a matrixed environment
- Demonstrated sound judgment and professional maturity to operate autonomously on complex matters while recognizing when to escalate
- Experience with AI use and prompting, with strong interest in new AI use cases and related technologies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and shared work and project management environments
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus
