A. Lange & Söhne seeks Retail Manager for Tokyo department store boutiques. Lead multi-unit luxury retail operations, sales strategy, and team management.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute global retail strategy and drive sales acceleration within department store boutiques, ensuring client acquisition and brand elevation
  • Lead and mentor boutique managers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing regional retail community while ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and operational controls
  • Assess sales potential, define performance targets, motivate teams to achieve KPIs, and address underperformance through concrete action plans
  • Manage retail budgets across sales, EBIT, profit & loss, human resources, travel & entertainment, and boutique operations
  • Coach retail teams on sustainable client relationship development and direct sales leads conversion through activation of product launches, events, and CRM campaigns
  • Define and execute regional client recruitment strategies in partnership with CRM and marketing experts; manage selected retail VIPs and enhance in-store customer experience
  • Evaluate and propose retail network development scenarios, including department store boutique and street boutique roles, with sales quantification and maturity timing
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key department store stakeholders and contribute to annual strategic plans translating global retail directives into regional action plans
  • Identify retail capabilities and training requirements; collaborate with learning and development partners to develop boutique manager skills in management, leadership, and coaching
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation (MPJ) of boutique managers and retail personnel; handle HR issues and ensure equitable remuneration policies
  • Conduct regular boutique audits, maintain retail headcount reviews, and propose organizational changes that increase synergies and reduce distribution inconsistencies
  • Provide market analysis, competitive assessments, sales forecasts, and customer behaviour feedback to management and headquarters

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in luxury retail management, preferably in watches, jewelry, or premium goods sectors
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple retail locations or boutiques within department store environments
  • Strong expertise in sales strategy, performance management, and KPI achievement in a multi-site context
  • Proficiency in retail budgeting, P&L management, and financial forecasting
  • Exceptional leadership and team development capabilities with the ability to mentor and coach managers
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to translate global strategy into regional execution plans
  • Experience in client relationship management (CRM) and high-net-worth client servicing
  • Fluency in English and Japanese; additional languages an asset
