Van Cleef & Arpels seeks a Gemology Researcher in Paris to lead research projects, publish scientific findings, and enhance pedagogical offerings at the Jewelry Arts School.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research projects in gemology in alignment with the Jewelry Arts School's strategic research agenda
- Author and publish peer-reviewed scientific articles and scholarly catalog contributions related to research initiatives and exhibitions
- Provide mentorship and research consultation to university students and external academic institutions upon request
- Develop and cultivate international networks of gemology researchers and foster collaborative relationships
- Present research findings at academic conferences, symposia, and study days held in France and internationally
- Organize and coordinate scholarly symposia and study days in partnership with external research institutions and museums
- Deliver cultural mediation and expert commentary during exhibitions and guided visits that align with active research projects
- Contribute curatorial and scholarly content in coordination with the School's communication department to disseminate research findings
- Support the design and development of new pedagogical courses, lectures, and educational content materials
- Review and update existing curricula and pedagogical resources to reflect current research outcomes and scholarly expertise
- Monitor emerging scholarship, publications, and curatorial developments from academia, the publishing sector, and museum institutions
- Validate gemology content standards and accuracy across the School's international campuses and headquarters operations
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in gemology (diplôme in gemmologie or equivalent)
- Demonstrated expertise in gemological sciences and research methodologies
- Proven ability to design, conduct, and publish rigorous academic research
- Exceptional written communication skills in both French and English
- Strong capacity for synthesizing complex information and presenting findings to diverse audiences
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Comfortable working in multinational, multi-site environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Evidence of collaborative teamwork in academic or research settings
