Richemont seeks a Qualified Engraver in Le Sentier, Switzerland — skilled hand engraver for precision watch components.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Execute high-precision hand engraving on watch components (cases, movements, dials) according to technical drawings and artistic briefs.
  • Prepare and finish surfaces to engraving standards, controlling depth, line quality and surface texture to meet aesthetic and functional tolerances.
  • Select, maintain and sharpen engraving tools (burins, gravers) and operate inspection optics and fine measurement instruments.
  • Interpret technical specifications, CAD-derived templates or pantograph guides and translate design intent into executed decoration.
  • Perform quality checks at each stage, document work, and correct or rework components to comply with maison standards.
  • Collaborate with prototyping, restoration and production teams to develop decorative solutions and ensure manufacturability.
  • Manage time effectively to meet production schedules while preserving artisanal quality; train or mentor less-experienced engravers when required.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification via apprenticeship or vocational training in engraving, watchmaking, goldsmithing or a closely related craft.
  • Proven manual dexterity and sustained fine-motor control under magnification.
  • Excellent visual acuity and the ability to work to sub-millimetre tolerances.
  • Familiarity with materials used in watchmaking (precious metals, steel, alloys) and their behaviour under engraving.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and commitment to atelier quality standards.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow written and verbal instructions precisely.

Experience
