Richemont is hiring a Merchandising Manager in Tokyo to lead assortment, forecasting and inventory planning for a luxury maison.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and execute the local merchandising strategy for assigned categories, aligning assortment, allocation and pricing with global brand positioning and local market dynamics.
- Build seasonal assortment plans, SKU architecture and product calendars in collaboration with buying, design and product teams to optimize sell‑through and margin.
- Own demand forecasting, inventory planning and replenishment cadence to minimise stock risk while maximising full‑price sell‑through across retail, wholesale and e‑commerce channels.
- Analyse sales, sell‑through, margin and client segmentation data to generate actionable insights; translate findings into range adjustments and promotional tactics.
- Partner with commercial, operations and marketing teams to shape launch plans, promotional activities and omni‑channel merchandising executions.
- Manage vendor and internal stakeholder relationships to expedite product allocation, delivery schedules and quality conformance.
- Establish and monitor KPIs (sell‑through, GMROI, stock days, OTB) and deliver regular performance reviews to senior management.
- Coach and develop junior merchandising colleagues; foster cross‑functional alignment with retail teams to ensure effective in‑store implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Economics or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of 5+ years in merchandising, buying or assortment planning within luxury fashion, watches or jewellery.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience driving assortment decisions, pricing strategy and inventory optimisation.
- Excellent analytical proficiency with the ability to turn data into clear commercial actions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with creative, commercial and operations teams in a matrixed, multi‑brand environment.

Typically requires a minimum of five years of progressive merchandising or buying experience within the luxury goods sector (fashion, watches, jewellery) with exposure to assortment planning, forecasting, inventory management and cross‑channel retail operations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Economics or a related field; MBA or specialised master’s degree preferred.
