Delvaux seeks a Merchandising Manager in Tokyo to develop product strategies and manage inventory for the Japanese luxury leather goods market.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute annual and seasonal product strategies, buying plans, and sales forecasts tailored to the Japanese market while maintaining alignment with global brand direction
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to determine optimal product assortment including selection, quantity, and price positioning
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle from procurement through sales, maintaining appropriate inventory levels and minimizing obsolete stock
  • Conduct detailed sales data analysis and formulate data-driven action plans to optimize inventory allocation and maximize sales opportunities across retail locations
  • Develop and execute sales promotion strategies in collaboration with marketing, visual merchandising, and retail teams
  • Manage budgets related to sales, profit, and inventory for assigned categories, performing regular variance analysis and financial reporting
  • Lead new product introduction initiatives in collaboration with global merchandising teams, ensuring effective market penetration
  • Communicate Japanese market needs and insights to global headquarters using business-level English, negotiating assortment decisions and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of practical merchandising experience within a luxury brand or fashion industry, with demonstrated planning expertise
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, with particular strength in written and conversational English for international stakeholder engagement
  • Strong data analysis capabilities with proven ability to formulate and execute data-driven strategies
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to influence across internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in luxury consumer goods or high-end retail environments
