Alfred Dunhill Merchandising Manager role in Tokyo, Japan. Drive assortment planning and inventory optimization for luxury menswear.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support seasonal buying and assortment planning by analyzing sales, inventory, customer demand, market trends and pricing
- Monitor sales, sell-through, inventory, weeks of holding and delivery status; identify opportunities and risks and implement timely actions
- Control inventory through allocation, consolidation, store transfers, replenishment or reorders, and event stock planning
- Develop and execute category or channel action plans to achieve sales, margin and sell-through targets
- Provide quantitative and qualitative product feedback to Head of Merchandising and HQ; communicate Japan market needs
- Partner with Retail, stores, VM, Marketing, CRM, Wholesale and Operations to ensure effective product launches and commercial execution
- Forecast carry-over and replenishment requirements and support sales, inventory and purchasing planning
- Prepare weekly and ad hoc reports, translating data into clear recommendations and follow-up actions
- Plan assortments for pop-ups, events and other business opportunities; support product training for store teams
- Manage merchandising for Outlet channel and Family Sale
- Contribute to cross-category projects and broader merchandising priorities as business needs evolve
Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in merchandising, buying, planning or inventory control
- Preferably luxury or fashion sector experience
- Strong business acumen and ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency; experience with BI or planning tools preferred
- Excellent organization, prioritization, accuracy and follow-through
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective team player and cross-functional influencer
- Client and product orientation, problem-solving ability, agility, initiative and integrity
- Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English
