Cartier internship in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland: optimize watch component manufacturing via 3D printing and conventional machining analysis.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing components and their manufacturing processes (3D printing vs. conventional machining) in collaboration with the Industrialization and Mechanical teams
- Analyze and characterize the types of 3D printing technologies available for watch component manufacturing
- Evaluate functional requirements and technical criteria (precision, durability, lead time, cost, materials, renewal frequency) associated with each manufacturing process
- Identify limitations, optimization opportunities, and component families best suited to each technology
- Develop and formalize a decision-support matrix to guide manufacturing choices at the design phase
- Test the matrix on concrete cases, refine it with various teams, and support its integration into departmental practices and reference documents
Qualifications
- Engineering degree with a generalist, mechanical, research & innovation focus, or equivalent qualification with demonstrated interest in mechanical design
- Proficiency in CAD software (Creo) and PLM systems (Windchill)
- Ability to work autonomously, creatively, and proactively with a results-oriented mindset
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively across diverse departments

Experience
No specific prior professional experience required; however, candidates with prior exposure to manufacturing environments, CAD design projects, or internships in mechanical engineering are advantaged.
Education
Engineering degree (or equivalent) with a generalist, mechanical, or research & innovation specialization. Strong academic foundation in mechanical engineering, materials science, or industrial processes preferred.
