Richemont seeks a Machining Specialist in La Chaux‑de‑Fonds: precision CNC machining for haute horlogerie components.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Set up, program and operate CNC turning and milling machines to manufacture high‑precision components to drawing tolerances for watchmaking and luxury components.
  • Produce small, complex parts using micro‑machining techniques and ensure consistent adherence to dimensional and surface‑finish specifications.
  • Perform tooling selection, offsets and optimisation; write or adapt CNC programs using CAD/CAM systems for complex geometries.
  • Execute in‑process and final quality control using hand measuring instruments and metrology equipment (micrometers, calipers, CMM) and document inspection results.
  • Maintain machine readiness through basic preventive maintenance and collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs or calibrations.
  • Follow and promote strict safety, cleanliness and traceability procedures typical of haute horlogerie production lines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce scrap and refine machining processes.

Qualifications

  • Vocational qualification in machining, mechanical engineering or watchmaking (apprenticeship/CFC or equivalent).
  • Proven mastery of CNC machine setup and operation for precision parts.
  • Strong proficiency in reading technical drawings and applying geometric tolerancing.
  • Metrology competence with experience using micrometers, calipers and CMM equipment.
  • Commitment to exacting quality standards and ability to work within regulated, traceable production processes.

Experience

Several years of hands‑on experience in precision machining, ideally within watchmaking, micro‑mechanics or luxury component manufacturing. Demonstrated record of producing small, high‑tolerance parts and improving machining processes.

Education

Diploma or apprenticeship in machining, mechanical engineering or watchmaking; vocational/technical qualification preferred.
