Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare accurate month‑end and year‑end journal entries.
  • Execute and oversee VAT accounting processes, prepare VAT returns and ensure timely compliance with Swiss and cross‑border VAT requirements.
  • Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis and balance sheet reviews to support statutory and management reporting.
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor queries and ensuring documentation is audit‑ready.
  • Collaborate with tax, treasury and operations teams to resolve transaction tax treatments, intercompany allocations and VAT recovery issues.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies; propose process improvements to strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
  • Prepare VAT and GL reports for management and assist in the implementation of updates to accounting systems and tax processes.
  • Resolve queries from business units and liaise with tax authorities or external advisors as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ practical experience in general ledger accounting with demonstrable VAT exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT rules and filing requirements, ideally with experience in Swiss and cross‑border VAT matters.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards (IFRS) and month‑end close procedures.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical aptitude and proven ability to work under month‑end deadlines.

Experience
