Gemologist opportunity at Richemont in Milan — evaluate and authenticate precious stones for luxury jewelry and watches.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed gemological analysis and authentication of precious stones using specialized laboratory equipment
- Grade and assess gemstone quality according to international standards (GIA, HRD, or equivalent)
- Prepare comprehensive gemological reports and documentation for internal and client use
- Support quality control processes across high-jewelry and watch production lines
- Collaborate with product development and design teams on stone selection and specifications
- Maintain and calibrate gemological laboratory instruments
- Provide expert consultation on gemstone sourcing and material standards
Qualifications
- Advanced gemological qualification (FGA, AGA, GIA Certified Gemologist, or equivalent)
- Proficiency with gemological laboratory equipment including microscopes, refractometers, spectroscopes, and UV lamps
- Expert knowledge of precious and semi-precious stones, their properties, treatments, and origin determination
- Familiarity with international gemstone grading standards and certification systems
- Demonstrated experience in high-jewelry or luxury sector quality assurance

Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of professional gemological experience, preferably in luxury goods, high-jewelry production, or certified gemological laboratories. Demonstrated track record in stone evaluation and authentication within a luxury or premium retail environment.
Education
Formal gemological education leading to professional certification (FGA, AGA, GIA, or internationally recognized equivalent). Additional training in mineralogy, crystallography, or related scientific disciplines is advantageous.
