Role & Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor galvanic/electroplating lines for precious metals (gold, rhodium, etc.), ensuring process parameters (current density, temperature, time) are maintained to specification.
  • Prepare, analyse and replenish plating baths and chemical solutions; perform routine titrations and record bath chemistry data according to shopfloor procedures.
  • Inspect plated components for surface quality, adhesion and thickness; document non-conformities and initiate corrective actions with production and quality teams.
  • Set up fixtures and jigs for small-series precision parts, load/unload components with meticulous handling to avoid contamination or damage.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of plating equipment, pumps and rectifiers; liaise with maintenance for complex repairs.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety and environmental rules for chemical handling, waste segregation and disposal; maintain accurate batch and traceability records.
  • Work within defined SOPs and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimise yield, reduce rework and improve environmental performance.
  • Support cross-functional teams (quality control, production planning, finishing) to meet delivery schedules and product specifications.

Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma or equivalent in chemical technology, metallurgy, electrochemistry, precision manufacturing or a related technical discipline.
  • Formal training or certification in chemical safety and handling, or equivalent workplace health & safety training.
  • Proven experience in galvanic processes, electroplating or surface treatment within watchmaking, jewellery or precision metal production.
