Richemont seeks a Director, Merchandising in New York to lead assortment strategy, inventory planning and cross‑channel merchandising for its luxury maisons.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and execute assortment and category strategies to optimise sell-through, margin and brand positioning across channels (retail, wholesale, e‑commerce).
  • Own seasonal merchandise planning, open‑to‑buy (OTB) control and inventory allocation to maximise availability while minimising markdown risk.
  • Set pricing architecture and promotional parameters in coordination with commercial and finance partners.
  • Partner with design, product development and sourcing teams to align product cadence, timing and commercial expectations.
  • Lead demand forecasting, sell‑through analysis and replenishment strategies using quantitative and qualitative inputs.
  • Manage relationships with internal buying, planning and external vendor partners to ensure on‑time delivery and quality compliance.
  • Establish and track KPIs (sales, margin, inventory turns, sell‑through) and present regular performance reviews to senior leadership.
  • Build, mentor and direct a high‑performing merchandising team; define roles, objectives and development plans.
  • Collaborate with marketing and retail operations to ensure cohesive in‑store and online presentation and launches.
  • Drive process improvements and implement tools and systems to increase merchandising efficiency and cross‑channel visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, fashion, or a related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership in merchandising within luxury goods, fashion or premium retail environments.
  • Demonstrable P&L accountability and experience translating commercial strategy into category plans.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience in forecasting, assortment optimization and inventory management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills at senior levels.
  • Experience managing and developing teams, setting objectives and driving performance.
