Watchfinder & Co. seeks Software Developer in West Malling, UK—expertise in Playwright, full-stack development, and test automation required.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-quality web applications for both front-end and back-end systems
- Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end tests using Playwright, ensuring testability is built into feature development from inception
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code following SOLID principles and best practices
- Increase and maintain meaningful code coverage across applications while identifying and addressing test reliability gaps
- Promote and apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing principles across the engineering team
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps, improving test execution and feedback loops
- Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver features
- Support and upskill the team in Playwright and automated testing techniques through pairing, code reviews, and informal knowledge-sharing sessions
- Contribute to building a quality-first engineering culture and establishing testing frameworks and standards
Qualifications
- Strong expertise with Playwright for end-to-end testing with a proven track record of improving test coverage and evolving automation frameworks
- Solid software development background with JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular (or similar front-end frameworks), REST APIs, C#, MVC, Python, and SQL/T-SQL
- Extensive experience with unit testing, integration testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Strong understanding of test architecture and maintainable test design patterns
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency with code versioning tools such as Git and Azure DevOps or similar platforms
- Knowledge of SOLID principles and common design patterns
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, including messaging and deployment concepts
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Awareness of security and data protection best practices
