Watchfinder & Co. seeks Software Developer in West Malling, UK—expertise in Playwright, full-stack development, and test automation required.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, high-quality web applications for both front-end and back-end systems
  • Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end tests using Playwright, ensuring testability is built into feature development from inception
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-structured code following SOLID principles and best practices
  • Increase and maintain meaningful code coverage across applications while identifying and addressing test reliability gaps
  • Promote and apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing principles across the engineering team
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps, improving test execution and feedback loops
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver features
  • Support and upskill the team in Playwright and automated testing techniques through pairing, code reviews, and informal knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Contribute to building a quality-first engineering culture and establishing testing frameworks and standards

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise with Playwright for end-to-end testing with a proven track record of improving test coverage and evolving automation frameworks
  • Solid software development background with JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular (or similar front-end frameworks), REST APIs, C#, MVC, Python, and SQL/T-SQL
  • Extensive experience with unit testing, integration testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Strong understanding of test architecture and maintainable test design patterns
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency with code versioning tools such as Git and Azure DevOps or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles and common design patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, including messaging and deployment concepts
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
  • Awareness of security and data protection best practices
