Analytics Engineer – Finance at Montblanc in Hamburg, Germany. Build financial data models using dbt, BigQuery, and Looker for CFO and FP&A teams.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data models for the Finance domain using dbt and BigQuery on GCP
  • Own Looker reporting for Finance and develop optimized LookML models, Explores, and dashboards for financial reporting
  • Define and govern key financial metrics (KPIs), ensuring consistency and accuracy across all finance reports
  • Translate finance business requirements into robust, well-tested data models and automated reporting solutions
  • Serve as bridge between Finance and Data teams, ensuring CFO, Controlling, Accounting, and FP&A teams have reliable, data-driven insights for strategic decisions
  • Drive data proficiency within Finance, enabling teams to leverage Looker for self-service reporting and analysis
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and governance in financial data models and reports, including maintaining finance mapping tables and hierarchies
  • Identify and prioritize automation opportunities to reduce manual finance operations
  • Own critical recurring finance operations including monthly financial sales closing process, finance mapping table maintenance, and mandatory reporting for German regulatory authorities

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with dbt and BigQuery in building, testing, and maintaining data transformation models on GCP
  • Expertise in LookML and Looker to build data models, Explores, and dashboards for enterprise financial reporting
  • Strong SQL skills with ability to write and optimize complex queries in BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with complex spreadsheets, mapping tables, and manual reporting processes
  • Proven ability to connect finance and data teams while translating business needs into scalable data models
  • Proven track record of working with senior stakeholders such as CFO, Controlling, and Accounting teams
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and testing practices including dbt tests and CI/CD pipelines
  • Reliability and attention to detail in recurring operational tasks such as closing processes and regulatory reporting
