Richemont seeks an Accounting Manager in Tokyo to lead finance team, manage A&P expenses, and ensure JGAAP/IFRS compliance across 17 luxury brands.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely completion of A&P (advertising and promotion) and selling expense accounting within assigned areas of responsibility
- Review periodic balance sheet items and perform analytical procedures to identify variances and risks
- Ensure compliance with Japanese GAAP and IFRS accounting standards; identify, manage, and mitigate accounting-related risks
- Process invoices for advertising and promotion expenses; aggregate and record journal entries during monthly and annual closing cycles
- Support optimization of communication and entertainment costs; prepare comprehensive entertainment expense reports for annual closing
- Drive paperless and digitalization initiatives across accounting functions
- Identify, propose, and implement process improvements related to automation, simplification, and productivity enhancement
- Oversee system integration and upgrades; support new business and scheme implementation projects
- Collaborate with internal partners including FP&A, HR, IT, and Maison communication teams to ensure seamless operations
- Support the Lead Manager in overall team management and PTP (Planning, Targeting & Promotion) team coordination
Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting and/or controlling experience
- Demonstrated team management and leadership experience
- Mastery of Japanese GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
- Fluent in both English and Japanese (verbal and written)
- US CPA certification (preferred)
- Japanese bookkeeping 2nd grade certification or above (preferred)
- SAP system experience (preferred)

Experience
Minimum 10 years of accounting and/or controlling experience in a luxury retail or multi-brand corporate environment. Proven track record of leading and managing accounting teams, overseeing complex expense categorization and compliance processes, and driving operational improvements. Experience with monthly and annual financial closing cycles, balance sheet analysis, and cross-functional collaboration in matrix organizations is essential.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. US CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification strongly preferred. Japanese bookkeeping certification (2nd grade or above) is advantageous.
