Richemont seeks an Accounting Manager in Tokyo to lead accounting, month-end close and financial reporting for its Japan operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close activities for the Japan entity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of the general ledger.
- Prepare and review statutory and management reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local Japanese GAAP where applicable.
- Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations and consolidation inputs for reporting to group finance.
- Coordinate external and internal audits, provide schedules and responses to audit inquiries, and implement audit recommendations.
- Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks and accounting policies to meet group standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, coach and develop a small accounting team; allocate tasks and monitor performance and workflow.
- Drive process improvements and automation opportunities in accounting workflows, liaising with shared services and IT teams.
- Partner with tax, treasury and commercial teams to ensure accurate tax reporting, cash reconciliations and financial analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification preferred (e.g., CPA, ACCA, JCPA) or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and Japanese GAAP, including consolidation and intercompany accounting.
- Demonstrable experience leading accounting close processes and coordinating statutory audits.
- Proven ability to lead and develop small teams in a multinational corporate environment.
Skills
Experience
Typically 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity; experience within a multinational or luxury goods environment and exposure to group reporting and external audits is highly desirable.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA or JCPA) preferred.
