TOMMY HILFIGER is seeking a Technical Developer in Amsterdam to support technical garment development for Runway & Collaborations, from concept through production, including fit evaluation, PLM management, supplier communication and pattern development. This is a six-month contract; candidates must be eligible to work in the Netherlands, as work permit sponsorship is unavailable.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end garment technical development from concept through production, ensuring products meet fit, construction, quality and workmanship standards.
  • Translate design direction into accurate technical specifications, construction requirements and product solutions while maintaining design intent.
  • Prepare for and participate in fit sessions with Design and Product Development, assess fit, balance, proportion, construction and garment execution, and provide clear technical recommendations.
  • Document fit decisions, technical comments and development updates in the PLM system, maintaining accurate product records and traceability throughout development.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, construction details and development information in PLM.
  • Work with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and global supplier partners to communicate technical requirements, resolve development challenges and support timely product execution.
  • Analyse fit, construction and workmanship issues, evaluating the impact of technical changes on product quality, supplier capability and production feasibility.
  • Support in-house development activities, including garment analysis, technical problem-solving and sample reviews to validate fit and construction before supplier handover.
  • Support sample readiness, technical reviews, reporting and 3D development activities where appropriate.
  • Independently manage multiple seasonal projects, changing priorities and critical path milestones; identify risks proactively and communicate dependencies.
  • Support pattern development by implementing fit corrections, maintaining approved blocks and updating patterns as required.
  • Contribute to new pattern and silhouette development for Runway & Collaborations in line with seasonal business priorities.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Garment Technology, Fashion Technology, Pattern Cutting or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical garment development across one or more product categories.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading and technical product development.
  • Experience working with PLM.
  • Strong pattern-making skills, including the ability to develop, modify and maintain patterns as required.
  • Strong understanding of premium, luxury or runway-level garment construction, workmanship and finishing techniques.
  • Confident communicator able to build strong relationships across Design, Product Development and supplier partners, and to challenge constructively where appropriate.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, embrace change and adapt quickly to evolving priorities, creative direction and business needs.
