Jean Paul Gaultier is recruiting a Junior Couture Seamstress for its Haute Couture Atelier in Paris. Temporary contract.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head Seamstress to define garment specifications and technical requirements
  • Consult and complete client technical files documenting measurements, specifications, and alterations
  • Modify base patterns as needed to accommodate client requirements and design intent
  • Execute fabric cutting including pattern matching for jacquards and delicate weaves
  • Prepare toiles and perform pre-assembly of haute couture models
  • Construct finished garments including skirts, blouses, dresses, and complex pieces in materials such as crepe, muslin, organza, satin, lace, and fine wools
  • Mark reference points on fabrics and prepare pieces for assembly
  • Achieve precise fitting of all garment components including sleeves, collars, yokes, and volume elements
  • Execute cutting, hand-stitching, basting, pre-assembly, assembly, pressing, and quality control operations
  • Make necessary adjustments following fittings to ensure proper fit, hang, and garment integrity
  • Verify garment construction continuously on dress forms throughout each fabrication stage
  • Complete haute couture finishing techniques including hand-worked buttonholes, rolled hems, lace inlays, and invisible seaming
  • Perform client alterations and adjustments on finished orders
  • Identify and document value-added elements through materials, construction techniques, and finishing details
  • Update and maintain technical specification sheets for completed models

Qualifications

  • CAP Vêtement sur Mesure (Tailoring), BP Vêtement sur Mesure, or Bac Pro Métiers de la Mode or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated significant hands-on atelier experience from a haute couture house, luxury fashion maison, or high-end specialized workshop
  • Expert knowledge of delicate fabric properties and their construction requirements
  • Genuine passion for haute couture and luxury fashion
