Puig in Barcelona seeks a Fragrance & Home Care Formulation Specialist — temporary R&D role developing and scaling fragrance and home care formulations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Formulate and optimise fragrance and home care products at laboratory and pilot scales, balancing olfactive performance, aesthetics and functional efficacy.
- Design, execute and interpret stability, compatibility and performance tests (including delivery systems and substrate interaction) to validate product claims.
- Collaborate closely with perfumers, sensory panels and packaging engineers to ensure olfactory integrity and compatibility with formats and dispensers.
- Lead technical transfers and scale-up activities with manufacturing partners, providing manufacturing specifications, trouble‑shooting and in-process support.
- Ensure formulations comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal safety standards; prepare technical documentation and safety data sheets.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory records, bill of materials and formulation databases; contribute to cost optimisation and raw-material selection.
- Contribute to project planning and cross-functional R&D initiatives, presenting results to stakeholders and driving timelines to delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience in formulation development for fragrances, home care or consumer goods (R&D or technical development roles preferred).
- Proven experience with stability testing, compatibility evaluation and technical transfer to manufacturing.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to fragrances and consumer products (e.g., IFRA and REACH) and good laboratory practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical documentation and cross-functional reporting.

At least 3 years of practical R&D or technical development experience in fragrance or home care formulation, with demonstrated involvement in stability testing, scale-up and technical transfer to manufacturing.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science or a related scientific discipline.
