Puig in Barcelona seeks an Environmental Technician to lead environmental monitoring, compliance and EHS support for its R&D and manufacturing activities.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct routine environmental monitoring (air, wastewater, soil) and collect representative samples for internal analysis or external laboratories.
- Operate and maintain environmental instrumentation and laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and quality controls are performed on schedule.
- Support regulatory compliance by preparing and submitting environmental reports, permits and documentation in line with Spanish and EU requirements.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams: identification, classification, labelling, storage and coordination of authorised disposal.
- Investigate and respond to environmental incidents or non-conformances, implement corrective actions and participate in root-cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate environmental records, logs and SOPs; generate periodic performance and KPI reports for R&D and EHS teams.
- Collaborate with R&D, production and EHS stakeholders to embed best-practice environmental controls and pollution-prevention measures.
- Participate in internal audits, external inspections and continuous improvement projects linked to ISO 14001 and other sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, chemistry, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering or a closely related field.
- Proven familiarity with Spanish and EU environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Demonstrable experience handling hazardous materials and managing industrial waste procedures.
- Practical knowledge of environmental sampling techniques and laboratory quality control.
- ISO 14001 implementation experience or direct involvement in environmental management systems is highly desirable.
- Valid driving licence for site visits and sample collection (if required by site operations).

Experience
Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in environmental monitoring, laboratory sampling or EHS support within an industrial or manufacturing environment; experience in fragrance, chemical or process industries is an advantage.
Education
Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, chemistry, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene or equivalent vocational qualification.
