Puig seeks a Cosmetics Quality Control Laboratory Manager in Barcelona to lead QC operations, analytical testing and regulatory compliance for beauty products.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the cosmetics quality control laboratory, ensuring timely testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished products.
- Design, implement and maintain analytical methods (physical, chemical and microbiological) and stability testing protocols in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with EU Cosmetics Regulation and industry standards including ISO 22716 (cosmetic GMP); drive corrective actions and CAPA management when deviations occur.
- Supervise, coach and develop laboratory staff; manage resource planning, performance reviews and training to maintain technical competence.
- Oversee laboratory equipment qualification, calibration and maintenance programmes and ensure accurate documentation and traceability (SOPs, batch records, certificates of analysis).
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs and Supply Chain to support product release, troubleshooting and supplier quality issues.
- Manage laboratory budgets, procurement of analytical consumables and vendor relationships for external testing services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in analytical throughput, data integrity and quality metrics.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science or a closely related scientific discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven knowledge of cosmetic regulatory frameworks (EU Cosmetics Regulation) and quality systems such as ISO 22716 and GMP.
- Demonstrable experience with method validation, stability testing and microbiological control specific to cosmetic products.
- Experience in laboratory leadership with a track record of supervising technical teams and delivering operational KPIs.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality documentation (SOPs, COAs, deviations, CAPA) and data integrity principles.

Typically 5+ years of hands-on analytical quality control experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or personal care, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing laboratory operations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or related field; Master’s or equivalent preferred.
