Prada Linea Rossa seeks a Sportswear Pattern Maker in Montevarchi, Italy — expert in performance apparel pattern development and prototype fitting.
Role & Responsibilities
- Translate design concepts and technical sketches into accurate, production-ready patterns for performance and sportswear collections.
- Develop initial blocks, prototypes and iterative pattern revisions; lead fit sessions and implement corrective adjustments to achieve intended silhouette and functionality.
- Grade patterns across size ranges while maintaining performance characteristics and adherence to technical specifications.
- Collaborate closely with designers, textile engineers, sample makers and external suppliers to resolve construction or material-related challenges.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation and pattern libraries (tech packs, measurement charts, fitting notes) to ensure reproducibility in sampling and production.
- Evaluate fabric behavior (stretch, recovery, compression, coating) and apply appropriate pattern engineering techniques for performance textiles.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and contribute to continuous improvement of pattern workflows and sample turnaround times.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in pattern making for performance or technical sportswear; demonstrated ability to engineer garments for stretch, compression and multi-layer constructions.
- Strong understanding of garment construction methods, seaming, topstitching, and functional details (zips, bonded seams, gussets) used in technical apparel.
- Proven track record of leading fit and prototype iterations with designers and sample rooms to finalise production-ready patterns.
- Experience working with graded size sets and familiarity with international size systems.
- High level of precision, organisational discipline and documentation skills for pattern libraries and tech packs.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage communication with internal and external production partners.
Skills
Experience
Significant hands-on experience in apparel pattern making, ideally 5+ years focused on technical or performance garments within premium or luxury brands. Experience coordinating fit sessions and taking garments from initial block through to production samples is expected.
Education
Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Garment Technology, or equivalent vocational training in apparel construction.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Montevarchi, Tuscany, Italy, with easy access to Florence.
