The Merchandising Manager defines and oversees merchandising planning, forecasting, inventory, product allocation and pricing strategies, while leading the planning team and driving commercial performance. The role may be based in Valvigna (Arezzo) or Milan; Milan-based candidates must be available to travel weekly to Valvigna more than 50% of the time.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the merchandising planning strategy, aligning commercial objectives, product availability and sales performance.
  • Lead sales, stock and margin forecasting and planning to support effective inventory management and business objectives.
  • Oversee product allocation and distribution, optimizing assortment availability across markets, channels and stores.
  • Define and monitor pricing, markdown and promotional strategies to maximize sell-through, stock productivity and profitability.
  • Analyze commercial performance and key KPIs, developing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to maximize the assortment’s commercial impact through effective product presentation.
  • Lead and develop the Merchandising Planning team, fostering a culture focused on results, analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Manage merchandising planning processes covering sales, stock and margins, as well as product procurement and distribution, to ensure the right product mix reaches destination markets at the right time.
  • Manage discount and promotional policies, guiding the planners team toward financial targets through an analytical, data-driven and results-oriented approach.

Qualifications

  • Strong business and commercial acumen.
  • Strong quantitative analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of merchandising planning, inventory management and demand forecasting processes.
  • Ability to develop pricing, markdown and promotional strategies.
  • Strong results and performance orientation.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Fluent English.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Merchandising Manager role.
  • If based in Milan, availability for weekly travel to the Valvigna site more than 50% of the time.
