Prada seeks an experienced Counsel for Real Estate and Store Planning in New York. Lead lease negotiations and construction contracts across the Americas.
Role & Responsibilities
- Review, negotiate, and revise all retail store, outlet, warehouse, and storage location leases in close collaboration with the Director of Real Estate – Americas
- Draft letter agreements for ancillary projects at leased locations and manage lease estoppels and subordination, non-disturbance, and attornment agreements
- Prepare lease abstracts and summaries for each executed lease renewal and circulate to local departments, headquarters real estate and engineering teams, and legal
- Draft board memoranda and board consent documentation for each lease transaction (excluding storage leases)
- Review, negotiate, and revise general contractor agreements and master service agreement implementations for retail stores, concessions, outlets, warehouses, and storage locations
- Review, negotiate, and revise purchase order agreements for millwork, marble, facades, and architect agreements across retail store locations
- Review, negotiate, and revise service agreements for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other facility systems
- Review, negotiate, and revise build-out agreements with department store partners for US and Canadian concession locations using established templates
- Maintain and update the real estate master property chart documenting key business terms for the Americas
- Annually update lease-required advertising specifications for the marketing and advertising teams
- Maintain and update engineering templates for general contractors, purchase orders, architect agreements, and service agreements
- Conduct weekly meetings with the Director of Real Estate – Americas and project managers in the Engineering/Store Planning Department
- Prepare weekly real estate and engineering/store planning review updates for the General Counsel
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school
- Active member in good standing of the New York State Bar
- Minimum 5 years of combined experience in retail leasing and construction contract law at a US law firm or US retail company
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial lease negotiation and retail property transactions
- Proficiency in drafting and negotiating general contractor and construction-related agreements
- Strong understanding of retail real estate terminology, including SNDAs, estoppels, and build-out provisions
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of professional legal experience in retail leasing and construction contracts at a US law firm or US-based retail company (including subsidiaries of international firms). Proven track record of managing high-volume lease portfolios and coordinating across real estate, engineering, and business operations teams.
Education
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school in the United States.
