Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the industrial design conception of wristwatches from initial sketch to production-ready models, ensuring aesthetic integrity and technical feasibility.
- Define and evolve the brand’s design language for cases, dials, hands, straps and finishing; translate creative intent into detailed technical specifications.
- Coordinate cross-functional development with movement engineers, prototyping workshops, production, quality and sourcing to reconcile design, performance and manufacturability.
- Oversee prototype construction, iterative validation and finishing processes; approve samples and sign off on production tooling and manufacturing releases.
- Manage and mentor a small team of designers and model-makers; allocate resources, set milestones and maintain delivery timelines and budgets.
- Interface with external suppliers and specialist ateliers to secure materials, finishes and manufacturing solutions aligned with luxury standards.
- Present design proposals and technical justifications to senior management and participate in strategic product roadmap decisions.
Qualifications
- Proven background in industrial/product design with a portfolio demonstrating watch or luxury product work that balances aesthetics and technical execution.
- Strong knowledge of watch components, materials, finishing techniques and horological manufacturing constraints.
- Demonstrated experience leading design teams and managing multi-disciplinary development projects to delivery.
- Excellent visual communication and ability to produce clear technical drawings and written specifications for production.
- Fluent visual sensibility with high standards for surface finishing, tolerances and luxury detailing.
Skills
Experience
Typically 7–10 years in industrial or product design, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in horology or luxury watch design and demonstrable people-management responsibility.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; formal horology qualifications or proven practical experience in watchmaking considered an asset.
