Maison Margiela seeks Visual Merchandising Manager Europe in Paris to oversee retail presentation strategy across European markets, reporting to Global Head of Visual Merchandising.
Role & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Global Head of Visual Merchandising to develop and implement the Maison's global visual merchandising strategy and seasonal priorities, while contributing to the evolution of guidelines, tools and best practices across all product categories
- Lead the deployment of the global visual merchandising strategy within the European retail network, ensuring consistency with the Maison's creative vision and distinctive identity
- Define and coordinate the regional visual merchandising calendar and seasonal priorities in close collaboration with Global Visual Merchandising, Retail and Merchandising teams
- Ensure excellence in product presentation, styling, zoning, product hierarchy and storytelling across all categories
- Conduct regular store visits within key European boutiques, identify improvement opportunities and implement action plans to progressively advance visual merchandising standards
- Serve as the primary liaison for European Retail teams on visual merchandising matters, ensuring effective communication and coordination between headquarters and markets
- Coordinate and supervise the deployment of seasonal windows, pop-ups, store openings, activations and special projects across Europe, ensuring execution aligns with validated concepts, timelines, budgets and quality standards
- Coordinate internal stakeholders, local teams, suppliers and production partners throughout development and installation phases, and supervise on-site installations and strategic launches when necessary
- Collaborate closely with Merchandising and Retail teams to translate seasonal product strategies and commercial priorities into impactful visual merchandising activations
- Ensure appropriate visibility for flagship products, key categories and strategically important product families
- Monitor store and product performance, and recommend pertinent visual merchandising actions to support commercial objectives and optimize sell-through rates
- Manage and mentor the development of the European Visual Merchandising team, setting clear objectives, priorities and working methods
- Design and deliver visual merchandising training to local visual merchandising and retail teams, encouraging best practice sharing and contributing to continuous improvement
- Participate in planning and monitoring European visual merchandising budgets and budgetary development of related global projects
- Coordinate suppliers, production partners, logistics and installation schedules while identifying pragmatic solutions that preserve the Maison's creative intent and quality standards
- Participate in global visual merchandising events, collection launches, re-see presentations, trunk shows and other strategic company moments
Qualifications
- Significant experience in visual merchandising within the fashion and luxury sector, ideally acquired through roles combining headquarters and regional responsibilities
- Strong creative sensitivity combined with solid understanding of luxury retail challenges and commercial dynamics
- Demonstrated experience in developing visual merchandising guidelines, seasonal concepts and tools, and their in-store deployment
- Proven track record managing complex projects, particularly showrooms, window displays, pop-ups, events and store openings
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to pilot multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities in international and cross-functional environments
- Solid leadership qualities and experience in team management and development
- Proactive, solution-oriented personality with exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential; additional European languages are an asset
- Availability for regular travel across Europe
- Knowledge of 3D modelling and visualization software is desirable but not essential
