Inventory & Capex Analyst at OTB in New York, NY — responsible for inventory analysis, capex reporting and financial controls.
Role & Responsibilities
- Own regular inventory analysis and reporting: stock position, ageing, obsolescence, reserve calculations and KPI monitoring to support working capital management.
- Manage capital expenditure (capex) processes: budget preparation, capex request evaluation, approval tracking, and month-to-date/variance reporting versus plan.
- Perform month-end close activities related to inventory and fixed assets, including reconciliations, journal entries and accounting disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Build and maintain financial models and forecasts to project inventory needs, capex phasing and cash impact; provide scenario analysis to senior stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with merchandising, supply chain, retail operations and accounting to validate inventory movements, returns, physical counts and capex project status.
- Develop and automate recurring reports and dashboards to increase transparency and reduce manual effort; drive process improvements and control enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related discipline.
- 3+ years of professional experience in corporate finance, inventory accounting, cost accounting or fixed asset/capex control—ideally within fashion, retail or consumer goods.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of inventory valuation, impairment/obsolescence and fixed asset lifecycle under GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate month-end close tasks and reconciliations under tight deadlines.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial analysis for non-finance partners.

Experience
Minimum three years of hands-on experience in finance or accounting roles with direct responsibility for inventory control and/or capital expenditure reporting, preferably within fashion, retail or consumer products.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent; professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA) or progress toward certification is advantageous.
