Maison Margiela seeks Head of Knitwear in Paris to lead design and development of luxury knitwear collections with fluency in English and Italian.
Role & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to define creative direction, product strategy, and seasonal objectives for the knitwear category
- Manage and lead the Knitwear Design team, providing creative direction and mentorship
- Design and develop all knitwear collections across runway, pre-collections, capsules, and special projects
- Interpret and translate creative concepts into innovative, distinctive knitwear proposals
- Guide and inspire the design team while maintaining the Maison's signature aesthetic philosophy
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with Merchandising, Product Development, Industrialization, and Production teams
- Conduct research on yarn innovations, knitting technologies, craftsmanship techniques, sustainability solutions, and market trends
- Oversee creation of commercial knitwear assortments aligned with merchandising strategies
- Ensure effective coordination between Design, Development, Pattern Making, and Production teams
- Monitor and manage collection calendars and timelines
- Lead product fittings and conduct design reviews
- Partner with suppliers, mills, and external development partners to optimize resources
- Drive excellence in design, craftsmanship, and quality across all deliverables
Qualifications
- Degree or Master's Degree in Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, or related discipline
- Extensive experience in luxury fashion with strong specialization in knitwear design
- Proven track record leading knitwear collections for a luxury or premium fashion brand
- Deep technical knowledge of yarns, gauges, knitting techniques, knit constructions, wash treatments, finishing processes, and industrial production methods
- Strong understanding of luxury fashion codes and contemporary market dynamics
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing creative teams
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management capabilities
- Fluency in English and Italian
- High level of creative sensitivity and meticulous attention to detail

Proven track record of leading knitwear collections for established luxury or premium fashion brands, demonstrating both creative vision and the ability to manage complex product development cycles from conception through production.
Education
