Maison Margiela seeks a Footwear Designer Intern in Paris for a 6-month position. Master's degree required; fluent French and English essential.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist the footwear design team with daily creative development activities and participate in the full design process from concept to final product
- Support research initiatives and maintain picture databases; update collection boards and visual overviews
- Collaborate on stitching toiles and mockups, execute stitch trials, and prepare samples for finishing approval
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with multiple departments to ensure seamless design execution
- Prepare technical launch sheets detailing product specifications and design parameters
- Participate in fitting sessions and contribute to fitting meeting preparations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Fashion Design (must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited program)
- Solid knowledge and demonstrated expertise in footwear design
- Fluency in both English and French languages
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Comprehensive knowledge of fashion history, design archetypes, and aesthetic principles
- Skilled in both industrial and domestic sewing techniques
- Expertise in finishing techniques and material treatments across footwear categories
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities

Connected to an educational institution as a current student or recent graduate with a Master's degree in Fashion Design; solid foundational knowledge in footwear design and creative development processes.
