The Assistant Store Manager leads store performance at Maison Margiela’s Fontainebleau location in Las Vegas, overseeing commercial results, client development, team leadership, visual presentation, operations, and compliance. The role supports the Store Manager and assumes full responsibility for the store in their absence; the salary range is $75,000–$80,000, salaried exempt.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager in developing the store strategy and annual action plan, contributing insight on team capability, traffic patterns, and product performance.
  • Track and communicate daily store sales and KPIs to the team, explaining results and actions needed to close gaps; review daily and weekly business and product reports and recommend actions to the Store Manager.
  • Monitor controllable expenses, escalate variances, participate in monthly profit-and-loss reviews, and help implement resulting action plans.
  • Partner with the Store Manager on recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding store associates.
  • Coach and develop team members, provide documented performance feedback, identify individual strengths and development needs, and share assessments with the Store Manager to inform development plans.
  • Foster an engaging environment for learning and development; train the team on job responsibilities, business objectives, company policies and procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Ensure staff are trained in POS transaction handling and cash management procedures.
  • Execute and follow up on the clientele program, coaching sales professionals to develop and retain long-term clients; maintain high clienteling standards on the sales floor.
  • Grow the customer database through daily client capture and follow-up, and ensure CRM execution meets company standards.
  • Resolve customer issues within established guidelines and escalate matters beyond that scope to the Store Manager.
  • Oversee daily store operations, including logistics, stock flow, inventory control, and floor readiness; apply Home Office operations policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and protect business integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained store; ensure accurate POS transactions, cash handling, banking, accounting, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain store schedules for Store Manager review and approval using company scheduling tools; monitor floor coverage and adjust it to meet traffic and service needs.
  • Work within store headcount and payroll budgets and flag risks to the Store Manager in advance.
  • Execute merchandise standards in line with company direction and Store Manager priorities; monitor best- and slow-seller performance and report commercial needs.
  • Partner with the visual associate to manage merchandising for sales performance and implement visual standards and guidelines, maintaining product and display presentations to standard.
  • Assume responsibility for store operations, team leadership, and business results in the Store Manager's absence; make decisions within delegated authority, escalate matters beyond it, and provide a clear handover on the Store Manager's return.
  • Support the business strategy and store sales and financial targets through consistent day-to-day actions.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in retail management or a related role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in retail, luxury retail, or a service-oriented organization preferred.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and early or late shifts as needed.
  • Previous client book preferred.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Ethical conduct and the ability to lead by example.
  • Learning orientation and ability to train and teach.
  • Performance management capability.
  • Leadership skills and confidence in having difficult conversations.
  • Elevated market awareness and networking skills.
