Maison Margiela seeks Archives Assistant intern in Paris for six-month contract beginning September 2026. Heritage, collections management role.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage internal loan requests and serve as primary interface between headquarters and external archival service providers
- Conduct condition assessments and oversee proper conditioning and storage of archival materials
- Catalogue and archive textile and paper collections according to professional archival standards
- Conduct historical and iconographic research to support heritage documentation and curatorial activities
- Participate in ongoing departmental initiatives as directed by management
Qualifications
- Formal training in arts administration, archival management, fashion heritage, or art history
- Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for fashion history, particularly Maison Margiela's design legacy
- Strong organizational and attention to detail
- Proactive, intellectually curious, and capable of autonomous work
Skills
Experience
Practical experience in museum collections, archival settings, or heritage preservation environments is preferred but not mandatory; the ideal candidate will demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for fashion history and curatorial work.
Education
Formal qualification in archival management, arts administration, fashion heritage, art history, or equivalent specialized training.
