The Safety Assurance Manager leads data-driven Safety Management System assurance for NetJets, monitoring safety performance, evaluating risk controls, supporting regulatory compliance, and coordinating audits and improvement actions across operational teams. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or a related field and 6–8 years of experience.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead Safety Assurance activities within the SMS, including safety performance monitoring, measurement, analysis, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain processes and systems to acquire safety data related to operations, products, and services.
- Monitor operational processes and the operating environment for changes that may introduce hazards or affect existing risk controls.
- Plan and oversee audits, evaluations, and assessments of operational processes, systems, and SMS effectiveness.
- Analyze assurance data and related information to identify trends, emerging risks, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
- Assess safety performance against established objectives and key performance indicators; prepare findings, dashboards, and executive-level summaries.
- Evaluate safety risk-control effectiveness and partner with operational leaders to define, assign, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide management personnel with timely assurance information for leadership review and decision-making.
- Coordinate with Safety Management Systems, Quality, Compliance, Operations, Maintenance, Training, and other departments to integrate the SMS across the organization.
- Maintain required SMS documentation and records for Safety Assurance activities, audits, assessments, and corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and inspections related to SMS and Safety Assurance.
- Promote a positive safety culture through communication, collaboration, and reinforcement of reporting, learning, and continuous-improvement practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or a related field.
- 6–8 years of experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAA Safety Management System requirements, including 14 CFR Part 5 and associated guidance.
- Experience facilitating hazard analyses, risk assessments, root cause analysis, corrective action management, performance monitoring, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Experience with audits, investigations, data analysis, management reporting, and safety performance monitoring.
- Experience building and maturing Safety Management System (SMS) programs, including safety metrics, reporting processes, investigations, and data tools, with a focus on long-term scalability and continuous improvement preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels, and manage multiple priorities in a regulated operational environment.
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends, assess control effectiveness, and develop risk-informed recommendations.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate effectively with leadership and frontline teams.
