The Pilot commands NetJets aircraft and delivers safe, technically proficient private transportation alongside concierge-level passenger service. The role includes flight operations, passenger briefings and care, in-flight service, and maintenance reporting; schedule flexibility, extended duty periods, and travel away from home are required.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate the aircraft safely during taxi, take-off, and landing in accordance with FAA guidelines, OEM checklists, the NetJets Flight Operations Manual (FOM) or Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
- Welcome Owners and passengers before flights, introduce the crew, brief them on the trip, verify itineraries, provide weather updates and safety briefings, and explain itinerary changes.
- Provide in-flight service as needed, including handling alcohol and serving catering.
- Load and properly stow baggage as needed.
- Conduct flights for Owners with pets and for those who smoke.
- Serve as the aircraft’s final authority for all operational matters, ensuring compliance with applicable safety and regulatory guidance.
- Liaise between Owners or passengers and NetJets from their arrival at the FBO until they have landed safely at their final destination and departed the final FBO.
- Report maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies to the Company through the fleet’s on-duty Maintenance Control Center (MCC) Controller.
- Complete the paperwork associated with maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Perform other duties as assigned, depending on the assignment.
Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold an FAA ATP, Restricted ATP, or meet FAA ATP or Restricted ATP (R-ATP) certificate requirements with a multi-engine rating in accordance with 14 CFR 61.160.
- Meet one of the following total flight-time thresholds: 1,500 hours; 1,250 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate; 1,000 hours with a military pilot qualification; or 1,000 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate.
- Have 200 hours of cross-country flight time (>50 nm).
- Have 250 hours of fixed-wing PIC time.
- Have 100 hours of night flying, or 75 hours with at least 45 night takeoffs and landings.
- Have 75 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated in-flight; simulator time excluded).
- Complete the ATP written examination before starting Indoctrination Training.
- Have 50 hours of fixed-wing, multi-engine time.
- Hold a current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate.
- Hold an FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit.
- Hold a valid U.S. passport and be able to travel internationally without restriction.
- Be authorized to work in the U.S. and travel in and out of the country without restriction.
- Be able to work varying hours, including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Be extremely flexible and able to adjust to rapid changes.
- Manage rest appropriately to remain ready for flight duty throughout the tour.
- Be prepared for duty lasting up to 14 hours per day for as many as eight days, potentially across different time zones and extreme weather conditions.
- Be prepared to spend seven or more days and nights away from home while on duty, staying in hotels.
- Be able to obtain the required airport authority and/or U.S. Customs security badges and pass Transportation Security Administration background screening.
- Hold a valid state driver's license.
- Read, write, speak fluently, and understand English.
- Be service-oriented, maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance, make a positive impression, and interact effectively with passengers.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills, especially under pressure.
- Make quick, accurate decisions while paying close attention to technical details and passenger service.
- Be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Be able to work around animals, including handling and caring for them before, during, and after Owner flights.
- Be able to conduct flights for Owners who smoke.
