Neiman Marcus seeks a skilled Tailor to perform high-quality alterations, resizing, and restyling of luxury apparel across all merchandise categories. The successful candidate will work directly with professional fitters to ensure garments meet Neiman Marcus's exacting construction standards while maintaining structural integrity and aesthetic excellence. This role requires expertise in complex garment modification including seam adjustments, shoulder work, sleeve rotation, and specialized techniques such as coat re-lining and pocket reconstruction.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute alterations to constructed garments meeting or exceeding Neiman Marcus quality standards
- Perform advanced tailoring techniques including seam adjustments, vented or unvented modifications, shoulder blade refinement, chest reduction, and shoulder narrowing
- Complete sleeve operations including rotation and hemming to precise specifications
- Execute back shortening, collar adjustment, and shoulder squaring with precision
- Perform specialized coat alterations including shortening, re-lining, and pocket reconstruction or remake
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all sewing equipment and machinery
- Conduct rigorous self-inspection of completed work to verify adherence to quality standards
- Interpret and execute written and oral instructions from supervisors, leads, and managers
- Complete assigned alteration tasks in accordance with departmental schedules and priorities
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a professional tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment
- Expertise with a diverse range of garment styles, fabrications, and construction techniques
- Proficiency reading English and interpreting instructions from supervisory staff
- Ability to calculate measurements accurately using all standard units of measure
- Mastery of hand-stitching and machine-stitching techniques to luxury standards
- Knowledge of garment construction, fit principles, and structural quality assessment
Skills
Experience
Prior experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types is preferred.
Education
Ability to read English and understand written and oral instructions.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 27.17 to USD 33.98 per hour.
