The position involves interpreting written and oral instructions from supervisors and self-inspecting completed work to ensure quality compliance.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, including seam venting, shoulder blade adjustments, chest reduction, and shoulder narrowing
- Execute sleeve rotations and shortenings, back shortenings, collar modifications, and shoulder squaring on apparel merchandise
- Shorten coats, re-line coats, and remake interior and exterior pockets
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all sewing equipment and related machinery
- Conduct self-inspection of completed alterations to verify adherence to quality standards
- Respond to task assignments from Supervisor, Lead, or Manager with efficiency and professionalism
- Interpret and execute instructions provided in written and oral formats by management
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment preferred
- Proficiency with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Ability to read and understand English-language instructions
- Competency in basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure
