Role & Responsibilities
- Alter, resize, and restyle merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores.
- Assist fitters with garment fit, alterability, and structural quality.
- Alter constructed garments to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus quality standards and match or surpass the original construction.
- Alter vented or unvented seams, take in shoulder blades, reduce the chest, and narrow shoulders.
- Rotate and shorten sleeves.
- Shorten the back and collar, and square shoulders.
- Shorten or reline coats, and remake interior or exterior pockets.
- Operate and maintain sewing equipment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Complete alteration assignments and other tasks assigned by a supervisor, lead, or manager.
- Interpret written and oral instructions.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types, is preferred.
- Ability to read English and understand instructions from a manager, supervisor, or lead.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using all units of measure.
