Role & Responsibilities
- Alter, resize, and restyle merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores.
- Assist fitters with fit, alterability, and structural quality assessments of apparel.
- Alter constructed garments to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus’s original-construction quality standards.
- Alter vented or unvented seams; take in shoulder blades, reduce chest width, and narrow shoulders.
- Rotate and shorten sleeves.
- Shorten the back and collar, and square shoulders.
- Shorten coats, reline coats, and remake interior or exterior pockets.
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Complete alteration tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Lead.
- Interpret written and oral instructions.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types, is preferred.
- Ability to read English and understand instructions from the Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
