Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct professional alterations, resizing, and restyling of luxury apparel to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards equal to or exceeding original construction
- Execute specialized alterations including seam modifications (vented or unvented), shoulder blade adjustments, chest reduction, shoulder narrowing, sleeve rotation and shortening, back and collar shortening, and shoulder squaring
- Perform coat alterations including shortening, re-lining, and pocket remake or modification
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all sewing equipment to ensure optimal performance and consistency
- Conduct rigorous self-inspection of completed work to verify adherence to established quality standards before handoff
- Interpret and execute written and oral instructions provided by management, supervisors, and leads
- Complete assigned alteration tasks within established timelines while maintaining quality benchmarks
Qualifications
- Proficiency in garment alteration and professional sewing techniques
- Experience with diverse garment styles and fabric types in a tailoring or industrial sewing environment
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend English instructions
- Proficiency in mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across various units of measurement
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to interpret and follow complex technical instructions
Skills
Experience
Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
Education
Ability to read English and understand instructions provided in written and oral form; proficiency in basic mathematics.
