Role & Responsibilities
- Execute alterations on constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, including seam modifications (vented or unvented), shoulder blade adjustments, chest reduction, and shoulder narrowing
- Perform sleeve and collar work, including rotation, shortening, and square shoulder techniques
- Conduct coat alterations including shortening, re-lining, and pocket reconstruction
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety protocols
- Self-inspect completed alterations to ensure adherence to quality standards before delivery to customer
- Collaborate with fitters and supervisors to assess garment fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise
- Interpret written and oral instructions from Manager, Supervisor, or Lead to complete assigned tasks
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment
- Proficiency with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Ability to read English and comprehend instructions from management
- Competency in mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across all units of measurement
