Neiman Marcus (Mountainside, NJ) seeks a Tailor to perform precision alterations and operate sewing equipment; hourly pay $22.12–$25.00.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform precision alterations, resizing and restyling across a wide range of luxury garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards.
  • Alter seams, rotate and shorten sleeves, adjust shoulders and chest, shorten backs and collars, and execute complex structural modifications including vent and lining work.
  • Re‑line coats, reconstruct inside and outside pockets, and perform remakes when required to restore garment integrity.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot industrial sewing machines and other tailoring equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Self‑inspect completed work to ensure finish and fit meet established quality benchmarks.
  • Accept and complete alteration tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Lead and interpret written and oral fitting instructions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to diverse garment styles and fabrications (preferred).
  • Proficient operation and basic maintenance of industrial sewing equipment and hand‑sewing techniques.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English instructions and communicate effectively with management and fitters.
  • Solid numerical aptitude for measurements and alterations (ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure).
  • Attention to detail, strong manual dexterity and commitment to delivering luxury‑level finish and fit.

Experience
