Neiman Marcus in McLean, VA seeks a Tailor. Hourly pay $35.12–$43.90. Perform precision alterations and operate industrial sewing equipment in-store.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform precision alterations, resizing and restyling of luxury apparel to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus quality standards.
- Alter seams (vented and unvented), rotate and shorten sleeves, adjust shoulders, shorten backs and collars, and modify coat construction including re-lining and pocket remakes.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot sewing and finishing equipment to ensure consistent workmanship.
- Self-inspect completed work for fit, finish and structural integrity; correct any defects prior to customer delivery.
- Support fitters and store leadership by interpreting written and oral instructions and completing assigned alteration tasks on schedule.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment preferred, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types.
- Ability to read and comprehend English instructions from Manager, Supervisor or Lead.
- Proficiency with garment measurements and basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) for alterations and sizing.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity and commitment to quality workmanship.
Skills
Experience
Experience in tailoring operations or an industrial sewing environment is preferred; exposure to multiple garment constructions and fabric families is advantageous.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical training in tailoring, alterations or garment construction is advantageous.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 35.12 to USD 43.90 per hour.
