Role & Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on constructed garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards equal to or exceeding original construction
- Execute specialized seam work including venting, shoulder adjustments, chest reduction, and shoulder narrowing
- Rotate and shorten sleeves, modify collar and back lengths, and square shoulders on jackets and outerwear
- Shorten coats, re-line coats, and remake interior and exterior pockets
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all sewing equipment and pressing tools
- Conduct rigorous self-inspection of completed alterations to verify quality standards compliance
- Interpret written and oral instructions from supervisors, managers, and leads
- Complete assigned alteration tasks in accordance with workflow and deadlines
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment preferred
- Demonstrated expertise with a variety of garment styles and fabric types
- Proficiency in reading English and understanding workplace instructions
- Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure
- Ability to maintain consistent quality standards under deadline pressure
