Neiman Marcus in Dallas seeks an Alterations Associate for in-store tailoring, $25.64–$32.05/hr.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform alterations, resizing and restyling of garments to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards equal to or better than original construction.
- Execute specific alteration tasks including taking in seams, narrowing shoulders, reducing chest, shortening backs and collars, rotating and shortening sleeves.
- Shorten and re-line coats, reconstruct or remake inside and outside pockets, and complete other structural repairs as required.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot all sewing and finishing equipment used in the alterations department.
- Self-inspect finished work to ensure consistent quality and compliance with brand standards.
- Interpret written and oral instructions from Manager, Supervisor or Lead and complete assigned alteration tasks within deadlines.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions in English.
- Proficiency with basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Experience
Preferred experience working in a tailoring shop or industrial alterations environment with exposure to multiple garment constructions and fabric types; demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, consistent alterations in a retail setting.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational training or certification in tailoring, garment construction or sewing technology is advantageous.
