Neiman Marcus seeks a Tailor to perform alterations, resizing, and restyling on merchandise sold in its stores, while supporting fitters with guidance on fit, alterability, and garment construction. Role & Responsibilities
- Alter constructed garments to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus quality standards and match the quality of the original construction.
- Alter seams, whether vented or unvented; take in shoulder blades; reduce the chest; and narrow shoulders.
- Rotate and shorten sleeves.
- Shorten the back and collar, and square shoulders.
- Shorten or re-line coats, and remake inside or outside pockets.
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Complete assigned alterations and other tasks as directed by a Supervisor, Lead, or Manager.
- Interpret a variety of written and oral instructions.
- Conduct alterations, resizing, and restyling of merchandise sold in Neiman Marcus stores.
- Assist fitters with professional guidance on fit, alterability, and the structural quality of apparel.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types, is preferred.
- Ability to read English and understand instructions from a Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
