This part-time role includes garment construction alterations, sewing equipment operation and maintenance, quality inspection, and assigned tasks; starting pay is $27.17–$33.98, varying by location, experience, and other job-related factors.
Role & Responsibilities
- Alter constructed garments to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus quality standards and match or surpass the original construction.
- Alter seams, including vented and unvented seams; take in shoulder blades; reduce the chest; and narrow shoulders.
- Rotate and shorten sleeves.
- Shorten the back and collar, and square shoulders.
- Shorten or reline coats, or remake inside or outside pockets.
- Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards.
- Complete alteration tasks assigned by the Supervisor, Lead, or Manager.
- Interpret a variety of written and oral instructions.
- Assist fitters in assessing apparel fit, alterability, and structural quality.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types, is preferred.
- Ability to read English and understand instructions from a Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
