Neiman Marcus in St. Louis seeks a Tailor - Alterations. Onsite role; $17.90–$22.39/hr. Perform high-quality garment alterations and repairs for luxury merchandise.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform alterations, resizing and restyling of merchandise to meet or exceed Neiman Marcus quality standards.
- Alter seams (vented and unvented), rotate and shorten sleeves, adjust shoulders, chest and collars, and perform coat shortening and re-lining.
- Remake, repair and reconstruct inside and outside pockets and perform other structural garment repairs as required.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot sewing equipment to ensure safe, continuous production.
- Self-inspect completed work to ensure adherence to quality standards and complete alterations tasks assigned by Supervisor/Lead.
- Interpret and execute written and oral instructions from Manager, Supervisor or Lead; collaborate with fitters to achieve desired fit and finish.
Qualifications
- Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a range of garment styles and fabric types (preferred).
- Proven ability to operate and maintain sewing equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to read English and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic and measurement conversions used in garment alteration.
- Detail-oriented with strong quality-control habits and the ability to self-inspect finished work.
Skills
Experience
Prior experience in a tailoring or industrial sewing environment is preferred, ideally with demonstrated work on high-end or designer garments and a variety of fabrics.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 17.90 to USD 22.39 per hour.
