Neiman Marcus Chicago is hiring a Tailor (Alterations). On-site tailoring role delivering high-end garment alterations with benefits and employee discount.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform complex garment alterations to meet Neiman Marcus quality standards, equal to or exceeding original construction.
  • Execute common tailoring operations including shortening hems and sleeves, rotating and resetting sleeves, taking in shoulders and chests, squaring shoulders, shortening collars and backs, and modifying vents.
  • Re-line coats, shorten outerwear, and reconstruct or remake inside and outside pockets as required.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot industrial and other sewing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Self-inspect completed work to ensure finished garments meet quality and fit specifications prior to release.
  • Complete assigned alteration tasks promptly and follow written and oral instructions from manager, supervisor or lead; support fitters with professional input on fit and garment structure.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and fabric types preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions in English.
  • Proficiency with basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) for accurate measurement and alteration calculations.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and consistent quality control of finished work.

Experience

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 35.12 to USD 43.90 per hour.
