Neiman Marcus seeks a Restaurant Server to provide attentive, polished table service, demonstrate menu and beverage expertise, maintain dining-room readiness, and process guest payments accurately. Role & Responsibilities
- Manage table pacing and engage with guests attentively, professionally, and graciously.
- Use comprehensive food-menu knowledge—including preparation methods, ingredients, and culinary terminology—to describe dishes, present daily specials, and address dietary restrictions.
- Apply foundational knowledge of premium wine, beer, and spirits to recommend pairings and deliver beverage service to technical standards.
- Complete assigned pre-shift, post-shift, daily, and weekly side-work duties.
- Follow brand guidelines for service sequence and place fine china, luxury glassware, and flatware correctly according to kitchen tickets.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain server stations and active dining areas.
- Assist with dining-room setup as needed, safely moving or lifting tables, chairs, highchairs, and other service objects.
- Follow accounting procedures for guest transactions, accurately managing split checks and authorized payment methods in the POS system.
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings covering daily covers, VIP reservations, and culinary updates.
- Maintain high personal hygiene and presentation standards, including a clean, pressed uniform and professionally groomed hair and nails, to prevent food contamination.
- Arrive on time, in proper uniform, and prepared with the tools needed for daily duties.
- Accurately record shift start and end times and coordinate timed meal breaks with the floor team.
- Follow restaurant procedures for schedule or shift changes and coordinate time-off requests proactively with management, prioritizing operational needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Proven experience in a high-end, premium, or upscale food and beverage environment following strict table-service guidelines.
- Thorough knowledge of upscale service procedures, fine-dining table settings, and common culinary and beverage terminology.
- Exceptional customer-service and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage graciously with premium clientele.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to a collaborative team culture.
- Physical stamina for extended standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs, and ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
