Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce daily menu items and special-event dishes while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Control and reconcile daily and weekly food inventories to minimize waste and protect profitability.
- Use production/build-to and order sheets to plan quantities and communicate supply needs with the head cook.
- Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary work area in compliance with Neiman Marcus procedures, local health department requirements and third‑party sanitation auditors.
- Operate and perform basic daily maintenance on kitchen equipment; report malfunctions to the designated associate.
- Coordinate with front-of-house and other kitchen associates to maintain flow of food orders and verify special orders.
- Close and sanitize workstations at shift end and prepare items required for next day’s production.
- Check in with supervisor for special preparations and before leaving the shift.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant commercial kitchen or restaurant cooking experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety, sanitation and local health-code compliance.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb stairs, and lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Team-oriented 'win together' mentality and strong communication skills.
Experience
Minimum of three years' experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen setting, with hands-on practice in food production, inventory control and adherence to health and sanitation standards.
Education
High school diploma or GED.
